Mexico grew 1.8% in Q2, its best pace in over 2 years

WHAT HAPPENED

The Mexican economy grew 1.8% between April and June compared to the same period in 2025, its best pace in over 2 years. In the first quarter, it had only advanced 0.4%.

WHY IT MATTERS

The data reduces fears of a recession and suggests that activity has gained momentum. Manufacturing, cars, auto parts, and electronics feel it first; then construction, employment, and consumption.

AND FOR YOUR PORTFOLIO

For a long-term portfolio, Mexico looks less weak than at the beginning of the year, especially due to the boost from exports. This could support jobs and income, although the estimate is still preliminary and may change.

💬 TELL IT LIKE THIS

“Mexico went from advancing with brakes in the first quarter to gaining speed in the second, driven by its exports.”
