Arm Holdings, pick from Vectorial, rises 7% on AI bet
WHAT HAPPENED
Arm rose by up to 7%, near $246 per share, after its director stated that its new technology for artificial intelligence chips could generate $2,000 million. The stock is still 45% below its June peak.
WHY IT MATTERS
Arm designs the blueprints for chips used in most cell phones and is now looking to grow in artificial intelligence. The sales expectation boosted the stock, although Broadcom's recent drop shows that the market still doubts how long this spending will last.
AND FOR YOUR PORTFOLIO
For a long-term portfolio, Arm combines a well-known cell phone business with a newer bet on artificial intelligence. Today's jump does not eliminate volatility: the stock remains well below its peak and analysts have differing expectations.
💬 TELL IT LIKE THIS
“Arm rose because the market sees buyers for its artificial intelligence chips, but the big question remains whether it will be able to manufacture them in time and if that demand will be sustainable.”
