Mexico achieves record: trade surplus of $9,857 million
WHAT HAPPENED
Mexico exported a record $389,723 million between January and June 2026, 24.6% more than a year earlier. The trade surplus reached $9,857 million, compared to $1,433 million in 2025.
WHY IT MATTERS
Factories sold more, especially electronics, computers, and machinery; non-automotive exports grew 37.6%. Input purchases also increased, indicating more industrial activity. The U.S. tariff had not yet slowed sales by June.
AND FOR YOUR PORTFOLIO
More exports can support the peso because more dollars come in, making travel and imported products cheaper. At the same time, a strong peso can make foreign sales more difficult. Manufacturing and logistics are the sectors that feel the change first.
